We here at The Phat Packers believe in living lifestyles, not living to work; that’s why we threw our life savings into setting up a life full of style here in the Northern Japanese Alps in Hakuba. We’re a relaxed and friendly bunch and we believe that those ethics are paramount to providing an amazing guest experience. We’ve received much praise for The Phat House with guests commenting on how amazing our staff have been, so when we look for new staff for our new venture The Phat Packers we look for legends: people who are fun, love to travel, love the snow and love sharing that passion with others. There are several things to consider before you read ahead that may shape your decision to apply or not. Experience in any position isn’t a must – it’s sometimes preferable – but to be honest a hardworking ethic, adaptable ethos and an eagerness to please others who are trying to enjoy an epic holiday is all you really need (we’ll get you up to speed on the rest).

Things that are a MUST for any job at The Phat Packers:

• A valid working holiday visa (or equivalent) valid until the end of March if you are not a Japanese national
• A valid drivers licence from your country as well as an accompanying International Drivers Permit
• A passion for winter and the snow-sports community
• You need to smile often, enjoy life, be able to laugh and learn and LIKE people.

Things that are PREFERABLE for any job at The Phat Packers:

• Someone that has worked in Hakuba in the past, or visited Hakuba on a holiday and is familiar with the area
• Japanese language skills extremely desirable
• Experience in any of the listed jobs that you are applying for (remember, this is not essential)
• Completed a ski season somewhere before around this globe of ours
• Compassion and commitment to protecting and conserving the winter environment and the planet as a whole

We are currently in search of absolute gem who can take the reins here at The Phat Packers and keep us all in line. It’s a big ship with some big sails so the right captain to sail us through the season will be a relaxed but effective people person; someone that leads from the front and is good at managing people while maintaining the effective day-to-day operation of the lodge:

• Super friendly human that loves frothing others out.
• Can take & give direction, delegate but doesn’t mind getting stuck in.
• A real problem solver with an easy-going temperament.
• An eye-for-detail and cleanliness that borders on OCD.
• Loves a good time with good eggs

We are currently in search of a kitchen wizard to join us at The Phat Packers for the winter 19/20 season here in Hakuba. We won’t get into the normal employment bullshit about how we want someone that’s the perfect human that has the skills of Gordon Ramsey but the temperament of Ghandi, no, just a couple of small dot points about someone we think will fit the mould:

• Super friendly human that loves frothing others out.
• Kitchen skills that pay the bills. We’re not looking for fine dining here: simple but tasty food that makes our guests happy.
• Can run a commercial kitchen by themselves taking direction from the big cheeses.
• Can operate to budgets and work to margins.
• Loves a good time with good eggs

We are currently in search of a few F**kin’ Legends to join us at The Phat Packers for the winter 19/20 season here in Hakuba. What’s it take to be a F**kin’ Legend you ask? Someone that is willing to throw their hat in the ring and do just about anything. From driving, pouring a beer, cleaning to snow shovelling and serving and everything in between if you think that’s you then you might be one of our F**kin’ Legends.

• Super friendly human that loves frothing others out.
• Can do attitude and is willing to do anything we throw their way.
• Can work autonomously and figure shit out for themselves; willing to use their head and offer some initiative.
• Happy to work anytime of the day and not set to a fixed routine.
• Extra points for barista experience and/or MR/HR drivers licence
• Loves a good time with good eggs
