We’re all about providing the best possible experience for frothers travelling to Japan in search of that famous Japanese powder. We understand that there is a certain recipe that makes for the best possible experience and while that magical ingredient is often snow, we know that getting the most out of your accommodation provider is essential for a rad ski/board holiday! And how do we know you ask? We’re the crew that brought you The Phat House and people have been saying nice things about us for years. This is our latest venture and the recipe is much the same. We’re here for the people, the good times, the powder, the comfort and the good vibes… and we’re bloody excited!

Part of having a good time is not having to think. A good accommodation provider is more than a bed and we certainly pride ourselves on being the best we can be; we’re dedicated to providing a great service at a really good price. From the minute you arrive into Hakuba we’ll be there to meet you, greet you and bring you back to the phat packers. We’ll feed you in the morning and put on fun events in the evening. Our staff are always on hand to answer any questions you may have or book any restaurants that you want to eat at. We’ll assist you book in your ski/board lessons and make sure you’re set-up with rental equipment if you need it. All-in-all nothing is too much to ask and we’re here to make sure you have a good time.

We have free wifi located throughout the building, a large drying room with a workbench for ski/board equipment, a pool table, a communal chill out room, a selection of shared and private rooms and a large shower block to boot. Whether you’re in for a quiet night or up for a few drinks we’re sure you’ll feel them good vibes.

Best vibes in Hakuba

My wife and I just recently returned from an awesome stay in Japan at The Phat Packers. We truly feel like this stay improved our trip exponentially. Great facilities, awesome location, nice room, great staff, and some of the best vibes in Hakuba. Shout-out to Brody, Sam, & James for the rides around town (and all the laughs) and big thanks to the entire staff for the amazing hospitality!

Great stay at The Phat Packers

I recently returned from a great stay at The Phat Packers in Hakuba. Our group of 7 enjoyed the range of different accommodation options, the super comfortable beds, excellent coffee, the ski-in location, and friendly staff. We loved the charm of Tsugaike and all the great local restaurants including Miso Phat. Special thanks to Cam, Brody, James and Rhythm Japan for all the rides around Hakuba. We would definitely recommend!

Best hostel I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. Had a very unique experience as it was end of season, but nonetheless made the trip more memorable. Would love to be back again when it’s in full swing. The staff are more like family and friends, not scared to ask for anything.

Has basically anything you could want

From the second I walked in the door to the moment I left this place felt like home. I met Nobu at the counter and he immediately helped me book a few extra nights without having to move things around. Then I met Steph and she helped show me around town as well as getting in some frosh runs on powduh days. This place is new and incredibly clean. Has basically anything you could want. As a solo traveller this crew made me feel more than welcome and I’d recommend to anyone looking for a solid stay.
